Suggestions for spyware removal tools?
I just got elected to our company's PC standards committee. Spyware/spamware is becoming a serious problem with our users and we are looking at getting a companywide license for a good removal tool. Spybot and Adaware are products I'm aware of. Any suggestions?

I like spybot.
I installed both, and it got more stuff than adaware, on my system at least. Plus, spyware will update your hosts file to point most ad urls to localhost. Not sure if adaware does that.

Highly recommended. You can set up a local webserver to put pretty pictures where the ads are supposed to be :)

I'll bring this up at the next meeting.

Re: Nice
Note that he's written a Windows install routine so you can distribute it via SMS without much trouble.

AdAware
Very well written software for Windows.
It's 10 times more useful than antivirus software.
Political note - if your people are going where they ought not to, chances are AdAware will show them up. Be discreet.

I use Adaware for my clients.
It's been greatly improved in recent months and can be easily updated over the Internet - both program and definitions. Optional modules can be added to the "paid up" version depending on your needs.
On the other hand, I'm not real familiar with competing packages.

Adaware is frowned on.
Supposedly, it lets the users make some changes to our locked down version of IE (homepage, security, active x, etc.)
