I recently started including a unicode meta tag in my intranet app's pages, like:
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
IE 5 and 6 allow you to set the encoding manually for the page you are viewing. If I set IE 6 to UTF-8, and the page has the UTF-8 meta tag (are you ready for the odd bit?) -- I can no longer "View Source", the HTML source code for the page! Switching editors doesn't help--the command is never processed externally. Set IE's "encoding" back to ISO = return to functionality.
Funky.
