Perfectly normal people without addictive personalities WILL become addicted any narcotic if they are given it 3 times a day for 2 weeks. Simple at that. You body will REQUIRE it to avoid going into withdrawel. Which is different from the concept of addicts getting high. But the body doesn't really know the difference.

As far as I know, narcotics are not poisonous and are not retained for long in the body - so what's the harm in stretching someone out? I think pain has to be one of the most destructive things to your health, by making you not want to do or feel anything. Surely the risk of addiction is not as great as the risk from suffering needlessly. -drl
