What? you dont like that kluge cluster of honkin bobo's?

Lets make linux look like winders designed by a commitee.
Instead simple XY rendering engine with a mouse driver and a subdirectory of fonts, icons to choose from. The applications should write to the engine. If you wish to xify admin scripts do a poll to see if called from X then tree to the desired xwin prompts.

I've hated GNOME since version 1/10^10

I hated the programming model, I hated the graphics, I hated the documentation, I hated the fonts, I hated the toolkit, I hated the PC attitude of the developers.

I've cooled on KDE because it has become so bloated, but it's still miles beyond GNOME and has a nice, well-mannered, open-minded developer community, as well as a kick-ass toolkit to work with (in the context of C++ at least).

Nowadays I'm mostly Windowmaker, which I use to run KDE apps like konqueror without the complete KDE environment.
