What I find particularly intriguing (perhaps even odd) is the period between Jan 2002 & Jan 2003 (and perhaps all of 2003) is the way the stats show a distinct mirror image between Apache growth & MS slide, apart from two odd
glitches where IIS surged twice in 2002 & Apache plunged an equal and opposite amount.

One other question the info isn't clear about is, is the pattern also reflecting any overall growth in the use of web servers.

So no, it doesn't show any overall growth (or contraction) -- the sum of all the lines is (if the graph is constructed correctly for what it purports to be) a constant 100%.
