...$300 for 1 workstation.

Ick.
In that final hour, when each breath is a struggle to take, and you are looking back over your life's accomplishments, which memories would you treasure? The empires you built, or the joy you spread to others?

Therin lies the true measure of a man.
New ...$300 for 1 workstation.

No. That's $300 for a copy of VMWare. Which lets you run a number (4+ in my experience) of simultaneous virtual machines. Which themselves can be selected from as many images as you've got storagr for.

\r\n\r\n

In that context, it's not a bad bargain.

New What I meant was...
$300 for one workstation *RUNNING* VMWare, not $300 per virtual machine... ;)

New Deal...
It would still be a DEAL at twice the price.

I use it for nearly anything I don;t have a spare machine for.

On my 1.4GHz T-Bird Athlon, I have a Win98 machine, a Win2K machine and a WinXP machine. I always keep them in suspend so I can just turn them on.

Nice thing is I can really SCREW them up and to fix them, extract the archive of them. PLUS... You can make ONE for your whole company and use the same image everywhere. With some tweaking of course.

For WinXP being HOST OS, it'd be good for regression testing older versions of Windows.

And, the number one reason *I* absolutely love VMware, I can try things and wotrk out major problems, before I put them into production testing.

You'll come love it. I know I can't really do my job with out it.

Virtually installed previously.
New $300 is a lot...
...for me at this time. Might be able to justify it if I get that EPA job. :P

It's not a lot for my company, but somehow I doubt I'll be able to talk my pinch-penny boss into buying me this toy...
