Good thing I stumbled across this post; I recall, now, I was going to mention that it was probably them. Searching on "Jupiter Jones" (the overweight young main investigator) gave me the English title and the (last) names of his buddies; adding "Hitchcock" to those gave this [link|http://www.google.com/search?as_q=Jupiter+Jones+Peter+Crenshaw+Bob+Andrews&num=30&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=The+Three+Investigators&as_oq=hitchcock|Google search]. I remember liking those pretty much when I was ~9 - ~13.
