Am up to my eyeballs in WiFi networks at the moment
802.11b
802.11a
802.11g
Security issues etc:
& have 802.11b installed at home, soon to be enhanced with an 802.11a access point. Am helping work friends set up their own family WiFi networks.
At work we are usinging 802.11b with many 100s of portable scanners, Forklift mounted terminals & Vocollect Talkman units.
WiFi is on the fly (not-pie-in-the-sky) So my suggestion is ... a new topic called ...
WiFi & Wireless
(this link offers an interesting perspective on explosion of WiFi) [link|http://www.ineedattention.com/pages/wifi/|http://www.ineedatte...n.com/pages/wifi/]
I am happy to kick off the new topic area with lots of input & assistance
Just a taste of some interesting new issues that should be on our collective radar: NetStumbler & MiniStmbler - freeware that runs on Notebooks & PDAs that can detect and identify WiFi nets. see [link|http://www.netstumbler.com/|http://www.netstumbler.com/]
also net sniffing, the art of analysing WiFi traffic (see same website + link at bottom)
Cheers
