A former columnist I exchange mail with suggested that they might do well to merge Infoworld and ComputerWorld into one magazine.
I subscribe to Network World and Infoworld and noticed that their classified ads are already the same. It would not surprise me if they either used the same staff and changed the dates for articles, or had the same people writing articles for both, each under a different pseudonym.
In the end, I think Infoworld is probably the loser. I probably need to get going on a free subscription to ComputerWorld and just help IDG "make the decision".
I think they were trying to keep both alive in the hopes that a recovery could boost ad revenues for both. But, there's a time when you just have to face the music and get the dirty deed done. And I think IDG is just about there.
