Two interesting things expected in iSeries-land early next year:

- support for AIX partitions
- on-the-fly LPAR resource adjustments

AIX partition support will likely mean an end-of-life for PASE. So, if you use PASE to execute AIX binaries today, you'll likely need to migrate those to AIX partitions (should be trivial).

On-the-fly LPAR resource adjustments will dynamically move memory, processors, and disc based on current workload in various LPARs (whether the LPAR is running OS/400, Linux, or AIX) at any given time. Manual and scheduled adjustments will still be possible, I believe. I'm skeptical as to how well this will work given some of the iSeries work management issues I've seen in the past year.
