First, I really dig Ubersoft. Ran into a fan of yours at the last Bay Area Linux Cabal meeting, BTW.

I realize most fish find me cold, but I honestly shoot for live and let live. There are those here whom I care less about. For the most part, I simply ignore them. On Jabber we've discussed your post, and noted that there's a lot of peace of mind to be had for simply avoiding the Politics, Religion, and War/Conflict forums (not to mention Programming). Programmatically blocking content from a handful of posters also helps my experience considerably.

I can assure you that you're not who was meant by the "Seagull" posters.

And while I can't argue for you doing what you need to do for your own mental health, I for one would really miss having you around.

Agreed.

I learned very quickly to stay out of (i.e. - not even read, just mark as read) the Politics and World Conflict forums. Now that I'm working on becoming a bona fide pythonista, the tech fora here are indispensible--not because I couldn't get similar answers on a mailing list, but I get discussion from friends here. That makes all the difference in "new ventures" (with steep learning curves) for me.

So "thank you" semi-specifically (in random order) to: Ben, Scott, Scott, Greg, Karsten, Wade, Peter, Todd, Barry, Ross, Thane, Bill, Bill, ChrisR, Andrew, Steve, and Glen. Plus others, some past tense; I'm sure I've forgotten at least one.
