Post #111,582 by boxley 7/26/03 4:24:10 PM Reply	Connecting 2 remote pc's with DSL DHCP the OS is winders 2K, they have an office with a little lan and a machine at home, they want to do it cheply and conveniently. It will be transfering Images, (they are the local school photo folks) I think the cheapest way is to get some secured hosting space and flop data via sftp back and forth. I really dont want the complexity of a vpn bridge and all the vagaries involved as I suspect that a lot of free maintenance would ensue. Any other suggestions? About 10 gigs of space would be needed. Post #111,585 by orion 7/26/03 4:56:10 PM 7/26/03 4:58:09 PM Reply	You might want to consider [link\|http://www.dyndns.org/\|http://www.dyndns.org/] get a subdomain, get a client at [link\|http://www.dyndns.org/services/dyndns/clients.html\|http://www.dyndns.or...ndns/clients.html] and then run DirectUpdate or some other Dyndns client to change the subdomain to the DHCP IP every 5 minutes or less. The subdomain will be like boxley.dyndns.org or boxley.homelinux.com where boxley is the subdomain name that they registered. Run this on one machine to be the server, and then set up a SFTP server on that machine. Hard Drive space is cheap, cheaper than paying a hoster if you need 10 gigs. Make sure that you lock down whatever machine will get assigned the subdomain to, because it is going to be on the Internet. Put it behind a firewall and then lock out all ports except for the ones you need. Of course I think you already know how to do that.
