Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Looks as if Uday and Qusay are finished. So let's rejoice!
We all knew they were brutal mass murderers who fed people to shredders for fun. We never denied this. We never said we liked them. So we should be happy now that it seems they're finally gone.

Everybody happy? Everybody in a good mood? Everybody partying?

Hello?

Okay, let's wait for the dental records. And then you can whoop it up. Unless you didn't really mind them all that much. Or you hate Dubya with such an insane raving hatred that you'd rather see mass murderes propser than see him get a bragging point, on account of he Stole The Election(TM) and got us into this awful war against... people who slaughtered innocents by the hundreds of thousands.

I've noticed in the past that some people have the strangest contrarian reaction to good news. But they insist they're not rooting for the mass murderers in various corners of the world. Honest they're not. It just looks that way.

DEAL WITH IT.
It's time for the US to infringe on the sovereignty of Liberia!
Never mind all the mass graves. Where's the nerve gas?

New Depends how big a roach.
These two were bigger than Gregor Samsa. And much less benign.

So why all the long faces around here?

New Bragging point?
He starts an illegal war with manufactured evidence. Gets a lot of US military killed and wounded. Of course we won't say anything about the announcement that "important leaders, possibly Saddam or his sons were killed in the missile strike preceeding the invasion". or "oops, guess not, but we got them in this house". or maybe not.

Nobody here, except you, have stated that Saddam was not evil, that his sons were not evil. We've all aggres to that. Only you have said that Saddam was a good guy. What we have objected to is the way the "war" was marketed. If we are to "go after" every "bad leader", we should invade the White House first, then Parliment, then every nation. Every country has had bad leadership.

I noticed that you changed your sig. Finally gave up on trying to claim that you diposed Saddam?
New Blithering idiot
1) Taking them alive and putting them on trial would have been the wise thing to do.

2) They are nothings - it's that other guy, stupid. Both of them.

Is there any bottom to your stupidity?

New Go cry in your beer.
You're sore, and you're a loser. And you've only yourself to blame.

And you're rooting for the wrong side, and you'll have to live with that the rest of your life. Just think, this could have been a good day for you. If only...

New Re: Go cry in your beer.
It'll be a good day for me when they haul you off for animal husbandry.

I used to like you before you became brainwashed. Now you are more tiresome than 2-handed Pinochle.

New What if they are the famed body doubles?
Taking them alive and putting them on trial would have been the wise thing to do.

My understanding is that they ordered them to come out of the house with hands up, but they refused, firing weapons instead.

Boy, it would be awfully embarassing and destablizing if the REAL brothers were found alive elsewhere.

New Taking them alive
No, that would have been trouble.

Rescue attempts. Hostage bargaining.

Most importantly, though, is the politics of thugocracy. If the leader is alive but incommunicado, his followers often take it upon themselves to follow what they think his orders would have been, in the hope/fear that he will return and reward/punish them. Often, the shadow is even worse than the real thing.

{Perverse meditation about a certain avatar's other followers deleted.}

No, this type of ruler has to be killed, and in a brutal and unmistakable fashion. Despite the fact that killing is wrong. The moral thing to do is to refrain from appointing and arming and defending bastards in the first place.

Nikki Mac reccomends, when liberating a town from your pet despot you gave the town to, slicing him in half and placing both halves and the knife on display in the town square. Nikki Mac also says a leader has no right to personal morality.

New Against my religion.
Literaly. I am not permitted to rejoice in the death of any human being.

Even really, really bad ones like these two.

I accept the neccesity, I am glad, in a somber way, that the pair of evil deeds done in my name (installing and supporting the bastard in the first place, invading without legitimate provocation later) are one step closer to being history instead of news. I am also glad that the situation in Iraq is likely to improve - although, once again, as a matter of faith, I do not beleive that killing (with one single exception 2000 years ago) ever really improves the state of the world. Still, these two would almost certainly have killed again, and their death will probably help hasten the end of this thing, so there was a grim need. If it were my choice, I would probably have ordered them killed myself. Penance would be needed afterward. The lesser of two evils is still evil.

But the attitude that this somehow makes the deceptions right still makes no sense to me. OK, two more bad people died. And two who were in the wrong place. This no more makes a liar honest than the fact that his predecessor is also a liar.
