I can tunnel ALL the X stuff over ssh just for you iffn you want Karsten.

We are talking about non-public networks here... and me being who I am, *I* know how to keep baddies out of my network. So the ssh stuff is overkill.

Now, if I was doing this from Knight... it'd be a different story!

Also as stated on Jabber/Gabber:

<kmself>BTW, WRT XDMCP not tunnelling X11 -- that's the default, I'm aware you can SSH it if you choose to, and why you might not on a home net. My main issue was commenting on corporate PRX.
<greg@bfe>Yes, I am aware of that as well. but also with most corporate networks on a switched environment... it is nearly impossible to sniff the conversation unless you have one of the machines compromised in the first place.
<greg@bfe> Or you have physical access to the router or admin privs on the router/switches.
<greg@bfe> IMNSHO shared networks is a thing of the past.
<greg@bfe> Even in the Cheapy version of 100Mbit Home Lan "hub" most are switches and follow the paradigm as well.
<greg@bfe> Now IF you don't have security on either end of the conversation you are screwed already.
<greg@bfe> Over the Internet... a mighty different story.

Even though this is the case nowaday, STILL doing everything tunneled through SSH on a corparate Network is the thing to do.
