The incredible persistence of say, Linus Pauling - still running at 120% in his '90s.. he gave a talk at Unitarian Church in Kensington in 1983; seemed not much different from his days duelling with HUAC while tryin to beat out Watson & Frick (and sabotaged by passport monkeybusiness at a critical moment).
