Calling fooker
I want xdm to put up a login session on my Windows X-server (xwin32). I forgot what to do. I'm too busy to read the excruciating X docs. Help!

Turn on XDCMP on your xdm
and then have your X server either query the box directly, or broadcast for an XDCMP host.

Oh if only
No, it's not quite that simple.
There is some bizarre syntax in Xaccess and Xservers I'm forgetting. Tomorrow I'll get it right.

Re: Oh if only
Somewhere in your xdm config files (I use GDM, details on request) there's an option for allowed hosts. It's probably set to none, or commented out.

Nope...
It is not an option that *IS* commented out. for xdm there is an Option that *IS NOT* commented out. <answer> Ask nicely and I'll answer you. Or I shall post a link to asking good questions. |

Re: Nope...
You mean
* CHOOSER BROADCAST
Well, that is clearly not an option.
I thought
192.168.1.0 CHOOSER NOBROADCAST
would work, but I must be wrong somewhere.

Re: There's a simple answer...
The only disagreement we have is over Debian, and the culture behind it. I am entitled to my strong opinion in that regard. I did not "shit all over" anyone. I expressed my disgust with Debian and the entire mindset of it. I will keep doing that, and I will keep supporting and using Linux in the field, where it actually counts for something.
Now, drop it. Or not.

Free people are definitely people who have claimed their entitlement.
