New I don't know anyone else who throws lightning bolts

"One of the main causes of the fall of the Roman Empire was that,
lacking zero, they had no way to indicate successful termination
of their C programs."

As the Poets have mournfully sung.
Death takes the innocent young,
The rolling in money,
the screamingly funny,
And those who are very well hung.
W.H. Auden

The soul and substance of what customarily ranks as patriotism is moral cowardice and always has been...We have thrown away the most valuable asset we had-- the individual's right to oppose both flag and country when he (just he, by himself) believed them to be in the wrong. We have thrown it away; and with it all that was really respectable about that grotesque and laughable word, Patriotism.

- Mark Twain, "Monarchical and Republican Patriotism"
New Actually I had someone else in mind.
The Devil, who tries to oppose God and does these sort of things for fun.

Yes Free Will plays a part here, but some argue that all are suject to God's Will no matter what. In that case, God has a weird sense of humor and works in mysterious ways. I cannot explain then, why lightning bolts got thrown at those people. They must have moved into an electrified charge area.

Maybe God was at work trying to save those people from the first few bolts? Why he didn't from the final bolt is beyond my reasoning.
New Perhaps it was blind luck?
Let's not descend back into pantheism...

Many fears are born of stupidity and ignorance -
Which you should be feeding with rumour and generalisation.
