New Powerbook G6 comming home to daddy
Now that I'm employed (more or less) my co-developers gently hinted that my pismo isn't going to be quite up to the task of running their "lean clean" Java code.

So its upgrade time. Ordered a PB G4 running at 1GHz with 1G of memory. I reckon that's 6 G's.

Should be here any day...

Have a nice PB G3 500MHz with 512M of ram, DVD drive, airport card, 20G disk, usb/firewire/ethernet/56k modem all onboard.

Gotcha - actually, the pre-titaniums are pretty rugged. My 2yo hasn't managed to inflict any damage so far.

No. OSX has pretty much everything Linux does and then some. Most open source compiles cleanly for OSX and its getting good support as a peer unix. Plus its pretty much install and go with (mostly) sensible admin tools.

I'd like to play with OS-X one of these days...


You really should. Cocoa will rock your world. Get a cheapie like an iBook. You'll love it.
