New Compare & contrast: Windows scheduler vs. Unix cron?

Any major differences between the two systems? Preferences for dealing with?

\r\n\r\n

I'm likely talking about Cygwin's cron (yes, it has cron ;-). Might even throw in the kludge that used to be on RH systems to create 'at' and 'batch' queues via cron (basically -- scripts that ran once a minute looking for any new at/batch jobs and ran 'em).

New Re: Compare & contrast: Windows scheduler vs. Unix cron?
If you are using the Task Scheduler in 2K or XP and are trying to run tasks more than once don't be suprised if the task stops running after a while (this is not as bad on 2K server)
many ofmy Scheduled Tasks (mainly reboots in the middle of the night) become corrupt after a while and no longer work

New FWIW
I never use MS Task Scheduler, preferring to write my own timer into the app that needs it. In fact, I usually disable that service on every install. It's more of a security thing (going back to bad experiences with NT) than a known flaw in the scheduler.

New Naw, he's Norming.
New For what it's worth...
In Windows land, you'll find that the tools for scheduling jobs are a little sparse if you just use what's included with the server. I have been using Winbatch for about 7 years now ( [link|http://www.winbatch.com/|http://www.winbatch.com/] ) and have found it handles most of the needs most admins need. It's a bit pricey, but so is most everything on the dark side.

Just a few thoughts,

But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.
