Peter, why should I waste time concocting a GTK program for you when I go to extreme lengths to expunge as much binary GTK from my systems as possible? It's SHITWORK. It's been shitwork since the beginning, and it's moreso now because they were pressured by Qt into providing C++ wrappers that would ease the programming task, for something that is inherently C-based - so now it's the worst of both worlds. Yes, there is GTK2, but that should be called GTake2 v1.0. They learned well from the mess of Windows (also a thing that started in C and gradually, painfully, migrated to C++), which they have perfectly emulated.

He also agrees that GNOME will win, in spite of being markedly inferior. As I said, the best product ALWAYS loses.
