New Those embroidery machines
That software is expensive. And the standards and licensing make Bill Gates look like Linus Torvalds.

Don't know about the quilting frames.

Sewing machines are no longer exclusively my wife's toys - I have my own now. Including a WWII vintage one that I'm considering installing a manly engine on in order to do straight seams fast. The New Home, though, is a fine machine as-is and I'm not going to modify it anytime soon.

Did I mention that I tend to fill out "title" fields with "Mad Hatter" lately? Hats are my special area.

Whatever

You can actually embroider texture with these things. I had the wife do a design for the Linux Tux logo and she made the white chest look like feather tips with an area fill technique. Neat stuff.

New Weaving, too.
I subscribed to the Icon Analyst for a while and they had a series of articles about weaving patterns. The authors discovered how extremely insular the weaving industry is - and how dreadfully expensive the software is! But it was very interesting, nonetheless!

(How does weaving fit in with Icon, you ask? Well, Icon's forte is string and pattern processing and doing things with weaves was a natural fit for exploring this kind of thing. :-)

Is it enough to breathe
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed

Is it enough to die
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be Anything but Ordinary

It was April the 41st. Being a quadruple leapyear, I was driving in downtown Atlantis. My Barracuda was in the shop, so I was in a rented Stingray... and it was overheating.
