New The Grinch version of Tuesday
Every U down in Uville liked U.S. a lot,
But the Binch, who lived Far East of Uville, did not.
The Binch hated U.S! the whole U.S. way!
Now don't ask me why, for nobody can say,
It could be his turban was screwed on too tight.
Or the sun from the desert had beaten too bright
But I think that the most likely reason of all
May have been that his heart was two sizes too small.

But, Whatever the reason, his heart or his turban,
He stood facing Uville, the part that was urban.
"They're doing their business," he snarled from his perch.
"They're raising their families! They're going to church!
They're leading the world, and their empire is thriving,
I MUST keep the S's and U's from surviving!"

Tomorrow, he knew, all the U's and the S's,
Would put on their pants and their shirts and their dresses,
They'd go to their offices, playgrounds and schools,
And abide by their U and S values and rules,
And then they'd do something he liked least of all,

Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Would stand all united, each U and each S,
And they'd sing Uville's anthem, "God bless us! God bless!"
All around their Twin Towers of Uville, they'd stand,
and their voices would drown every sound in the land.

"I must stop that singing," Binch said with a smirk,
And he had an idea--an idea that might work!
The Binch stole some U airplanes in U morning hours,
And crashed them right into the Uville Twin Towers.

"They'll wake to disaster!" he snickered, so sour,
"And how can they sing when they can't find a tower?"

The Binch cocked his ear as they woke from their sleeping,
All set to enjoy their U-wailing and weeping,
Instead he heard something that started quite low,
And it built up quite slow, but it started to grow--
And the Binch heard the most unpredictable thing...

And he couldn't believe it--they started to sing!

He stared down at U-ville, not trusting his eyes,
What he saw was a shocking, disgusting surprise!
Every U down in U-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any towers at all!
He HADN'T stopped U-Ville from singing! It sung!
For down deep in the hearts of the old and the young,
Those Twin Towers were standing, called Hope and called Pride,
And you can't smash the towers we hold deep inside.

So we circle the sites where our heroes did fall,
With a hand in each hand of the tall and the small,

And we mourn for our losses while knowing we'll cope,
For we still have inside that U-Pride and U-Hope.

For America means a bit more than tall towers,
It means more than wealth or political powers,
It's more than our enemies ever could guess,
So may God bless America! Bless us! God bless!

New Did you do this yourself?!?
If so...right fine job. May I forward it around?

If not...please publish the source.

Damn how a silly "children's story" can bring a tear to a grown man's eye.....

New Re: Did you do this yourself?!?
I wish.

No, I didn't do this myself, and I received it without a source, else I would have published it.

So....Source Unknown.

Assuming distribution rights granted; it also arrived without any restrictions printed. Doesn't mean they don't exist; it means I don't know of 'em.

New Thanks for posting it. Here's a Peace Letter.
When I received this email it made me think of the compassion Ben Tilly showed in writing his letter. It brought a tear to my eye.

WE CHOOSE PEACE

The women and men killed on September 12, 2001 died at the hands
of terrorists who struck the hearts and souls of everyone in our
great nation. We must pause as we decide what actions our country
will take that will forever be entwined with the memories of
their lives.

The immediate and overwhelming feelings of anguish and revenge
are powerful influences on the leaders of our government. Without
debate or adequate time to consider alternatives, our government
is preparing to wage war. Retaliation with massive military force
will certainly cost more American lives and kill innocent
civilians who are not connected to any terrorist actions. A war
will give terrorist leaders more power to recruit followers and
fan the fire of hate and violence against the citizens of the
United States.

As a nation, we should not underestimate the strength, intellect,
and will of our people. We must find a way to exact justice on
the terrorists responsible for this atrocity, without engaging in
a war that could last years. During these days of grief, we have
seen many fellow citizens wishing to avoid war and to prevent
additional human suffering. These thoughts in solitude or silent
mourning will not be heard. We must raise our voices in a
declaration that will sound throughout the world: "We Choose
Peace."

We have the opportunity to make the most noble and influential
efforts a nation has ever offered to promote peace in the world.
It will take great strength and resolve to follow this uncharted
path. The world was stunned and aghast at the audacity and
devastation of the terrorist attack. Let us overcome the power of
that attack by creating universal admiration for our use of
restraint, pursuit of honorable justice, and determination to
promote peace in the world. As a symbol of this new era, a Peace
Memorial should be built in Washington D.C. inscribed with the
names of all those who perished in the attacks and rescue
operations.

These ideas and visions will only stay in our imaginations unless
we summon the courage to take action and spread this message
immediately to our families, friends, colleagues, government
officials, and the media. Forward this website address, send
letters, put a sign in your window, gather in your communities,
talk to reporters...

The message to the world will be clear: "We Choose Peace."

New Re: Neville Chamberlain couldn't have said it better. (nomsg
Truer words were never spoken.

To achieve peace, one must prepare for war.

When one is not prepared for war, then peace will be achieved at a price - many times a terrible price. The last ten years of "peacekeeping" missions has been an abomination on the Constitution. The US Government is supposed to provide for the protection and defense of the citizens of the United States. One can argue that the defense of Western Europe (during the cold war) was such a defense. One can argue that the Gulf War was such a defense (defending our allies, and also our oil supply.)

But Bosnia? Somalia? Haiti? We have no frickin' business in any of those places. There is no constitutional interest in any of those places.

Now, with Afghanistan/Taliban a willing participant in terrorism against us, they are, I would think, a legitimate Constitutionally correct target. Take the Taliban out, whatever it takes, and try to snag bin Laden where he tries to flee to. Then, like a whack-a-mole, work on the next terrorist.
New That could almost be Ashton's war cry...

In that order?

Just a 'V' missing...
