New Just don't say anything bad about Microsoft :(
Just picked up this snippet via comp.os.linux.advocacy. It is in reference to an article at our old friend Infoworld by Ed Foster.
A brief extract follows;

.... license for FrontPage 2002. "You may not use the Software in connection with any site that disparages Microsoft, MSN, MSNBC, Expedia, or their products or services ... " the license reads in part. Good thing InfoWorld doesn't use FrontPage 2002 to post this column, I guess.

New Combine with what we suspect and that is bad...
I speak, of course, of the [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=8163|SSSCA], which may wind up forcing us all to use Microsoft software.

Given the wonderful effects of the nimda worm, just imagine a future where everyone has to use Microsoft software, nobody is allowed to criticize them, and crackers are abusing security holes that nobody is allowed to talk about to take down the Internet...

Doesn't it look pretty?

Ben
New Why is my Constitution sensor reading MAX?
Is that a conceivably enforceable idea at all? It is about the interpretation of content -- surely goes far beyond caveat emptor.

(Even under the security rubric of Ashcroft's rather likely new assaults on Bill of Rights)
New False positive.
Remember, this only applies to the GOVERNMENT regulating your speech. Corporations can stick whatever they want in their terms of use.

New Now jus' waidaminnit
Sure they can SAY you can't do this, or you can't do that...

And I can (and will) say "Blow me, Billy!" and do whatever I damn well please.

Wat are they going to do...sue me??? That is their only recourse. And if they sue me, the whole issue of prior restraint comes into play. Of course, I'm gonna have a damn good lawyer, too, who will file all the appropriate countersuits. Who knows, I might actually make a small profit on their arrogant stupidity (and wouldn't that be satisfying...?).

(Resistance is not futile...)
New By all means, go for it.
I sure as HELL ain't advocating Billy's attitude. Problem is, you gotta get around all the new shrinkwrap bullshit, along with Micro$haft's lawyer pack.

Could you tell I'm not at work? ^_^
