Welcome to IWETHEY!

New have seen this with a bad smart hub and snarfle
on the sun box. Toss a new/different switch/hub or cold boot it. Same problem rip the guts out of the hme int. hmebla down hmebla hmebla unplumb hmebla plumb hmebla A.b.C.D netmask A.B.C.mask <ret>
hmebla up
see if does the same thing, if so sysunconfig, rips all the identity out odf the guts, will need a reboot then re-apply hostname, dns, all ip settings.
thanx,

New Have done some more digging
Tried setting the OpenBoot PROM to not keep checking the link in case the hub was n't pulsing correctly (or at all).

Did sys-unconfig and reset all network settings.

Currently using a PERL script called hmeconfig ([link|http://arrakis.cso.uiuc.edu/jak/code/hmeconfig.html|http://arrakis.cso....econfig.html])

which lets me dig into the hme interface and check the settings (full/half, 100/10, etc)

More and more I think it's pointing to the hub. Just because it works fine on an old Pentium (with 3C509 10 mbit NIC) doesn't mean it's good enough for my Sun.

Man, Google (and ziwethey, of course) is a great resource for these weird troubles. I just put the error message and a few other keywords in and I can usually get the answer I'm looking for. (Except for this problem, of course.)

Thanks for the response. I'll keep you posted.
