You can drive a mouse and text programatically. If you want to do that with Perl, you can try using something like Win32:GuiTest. I haven't tried it, and good luck noticing any sort of error conditions (scanning by shaved monkeys may be useful)...

If you installed the Activestate version of Perl, it either comes installed or (more likely) can be installed by running the "ppm" command followed by "install Win32-GuiTest".
