The Civil Liberties Council says a Federal Government move to require lawyers to get a security clearance to appear in certain cases is alarming.
Federal Attorney-General Daryl Williams is planning to introduce new legislation to stop sensitive information being revealed in court.
Not a whole lot of detail here, but the basic idea is so repugnant it doesn't need much. This would make it nigh impossible to sue the government in any case involving secret material, because only government approved lawyers would be allowed in the case. It would also impose another hurdle to poor people hit with government prosecution.
