New Resuming Normalcy
There's been a lot of talk on the TV, radio, and newspapers about "resuming normalacy". I've got some thoughs on that.

We must to resume our lives.

We must to continue cleanup efforts. Rescue has transitioned to recovery, but we continue.

We must prepare for war.

We must pursue our enemies. Not for revenge, but but to stamp out an evil.

We must preserve the values on which this nation was founded from those
who would take them from us, both abroad and at home.

We must love one another.

But I don't think this is "normalcy".

What part of "gestalt" don't you understand?
New There seems to be a nascent chance..
for earning back that normalcy, so long gone - of which (I think) you speak. Thanks for finding a few words about that -

A.
New Perhaps a new normalcy is needed?
Our "bizness as usual" attitude may have put us where we are today - where our shameless exploitation of other countries and our willful disregard for the needs of others has continued the existence of an environment where life is not held sacred - in a world that can no longer afford that assumption.

More coming soon.
"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you." - Friedrich Nietzsche
New But we've tried it the other way too.
After all we did for Germany and Italy, and they're already trying to back off when we need them.

And all that talk from the French about the Ugly American. The only ugly Americans were those converted into steak tartar by the Nazis.

In the eyes of the world, we just can't win. It's not worth trying to please people. We should first of all look out for our own (legitimate) interests. And if we happen to help out anyone else, it should be strictly on our terms.

New It's time for chaos to finally win and walk away with...
the prize which turns out to be nothing.

Bruce Cockburn tends very much to the facile, but he does have his moments of sublime irony.
