installed what I thought were the sound drivers for the onboard sound card(some offbreed) used the xp drivers from his harddrive prior xp install and on boot get bluedcreened with a kl.sys from the kernel not being able to attach to memory. Booted in safe mode. bluescreened. Tried safe mode command line. bluescreened. Disable the sound and all onboard devices except video hoping it would whine about missing hardware and come up. Bluescreened. Of course his install cd is not stapled to the owners forhead with a nine inch spike like I asked him todo the last time this came up but at his home again a 3hr round trip. Is there anything else I could have tried to recover enough to delete offending files?
