New On the Muslims taking umbrage at enavgelical aid
interesting quote from the graham boy
[link|http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=31755|http://www.worldnetd...?ARTICLE_ID=31755]
Richard Land, president of the denomination's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, believes American Christians should stop worrying about whether Muslims think America is anti-Islam.
"What doesn't look that way to the Muslim world?"
Besides, he said, "they're the ones declaring holy war, not us. They're the ones trying to convert people by force. They're the ones killing people in the name of religion, not us."
I notice that the muslim CAIR org is evangelical here wishing to turn the entire USA into a muslim nation. Also as noted that the Baptists have been in Iraq for 30 years, its not a last minute rice christian crusade.

No, "they" are not. "They" are not a unified group.

"They" are only identified by their religion.

"Christianity" is a grouping that also includes the Aryan Nations.

It isn't that the US is anti-Islam.

The US is anti-anything-that-is-not-pro-US.
New As far as "holy war" goes...
Read up on some of Bush 'n Co.'s revelationist nonsense. THEY see it as a holy war, even if they're not publicly calling it that...
God does not play dice with the universe: He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players [i.e. everybody], to being involved in an obscure and complex variant of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.
New "Holy War"
Trust me, there isn't anything "Holy" about this war. Not from either side.

New Ah, good old Franklin.
I just don't get that guy.

Samaritans Purse *has*, to be fair, done quite a bit of good in places that a lot of other organizations have ignored. And SP has been operating in the Middle East for quite some time. Their organization doesn't put strings on their aid -- for example, they don't require you go to church services or revivals or anything like that -- but their members are fairly evangelical, from what I've heard, and I suspect in many instances the difference is a matter of semantics.

Actually, I've been somewhat suprised by Franklin's comments, seeing as how he has spent so much time out there (he used to be a pilot for Samaritan's Purse before he started running it, if I remember correctly). But he seems to be suffering "let me help you get this splinter out of your eye, while ignoring the board in my own" syndrome...
