Anyway, I emailed back that getting oput of A real fast would be a good idea. Turns out the Afghans he was hanging out with were refugees, and he's in Pakistan. Too close to the border for my happiness, but... ---- sig suspended until I get my sense of humor back

Haven't heard from him since, but he's very sporadic about contacting us anyway, so I assume he got out OK. ---- Watch this space: Catch-22 quote will appear once I have the book in front of me.
