New Re: Graph of Texas Executions
Does this graph deal with the number of death penalty *convictions*, or number of actual executions?

New Re: Graph of Texas Executions
Executions - first one 20 odd years ago, 100 in first 14 yrs, another 100 in the next 4, then another 100 in the next 3.

New What?
We're just clearing out death row...

I think Texas has something like 2,400 people waiting to be executed (already convicted and sentenced to die).

New ? more like 450

Still a lot.

Harris County alone has a larger population than most states.

New That seems like a more telling statistic
since executions only come after legal wranglings, appeals, etc. Two people convincted on the same day, one could be executed months or even years before the other. So a spike or lull in actual executions could be explained away by beauraucratic machinery. It's the actual giving of the death sentence that find significant... and disturbing...

New Shock and Awe Indeed - War on the People
The most telling statistic is that a huge margin of death sentences are meted out to blacks who have killed whites. Racism is the cornerstone of the DP.
