I owe my PHB an apology.
Right now, we're an all-Microsoft 24/7 shop. Siebel Medical, which is our central data repository, requires IE 6+latest M$ JVM. All XP, all Office, all SQL Server, all the time.
He'd seen me playing around with Debian on my laptop, and we're in a meeting, and mentions casually to me that Siebel is planning on releasing a Sun Java version of their client in 2004, that the BSA was pissing him off with their constant threatening letters, and hey, by the way, the Knoppix CD I showed him was pretty nifty, and what better way to give Microsoft the finger, eh?
We may be Microsoft-free in 2004 or 2005.
Wow.
