How many "packages" in stock WinXP install?
I'm working on a response to some anti-Linux FUD. One point I'd like\r\nto make is how much more there is in a stock GNU/Linux install\r\n(specifically RH 7.2) than WinXP. \r\n\r\n Request: would someone please post a rough breakdown of what\r\n"packages" (programs, etc.) are included in a stock WinXP install? That\r\nwould be just the OS. Best bet it likely to run an\r\ninstallation and see what's there, fresh system or VMWare. My strong\r\npreference would be for the same system to be booted under Knoppix or\r\nLNX-BBC and 'ls -lr' run from the legacy MS Windows C:\\ filesystem root.\r\nIf you could post this to a publicly accessible webpage, I'd appreciate\r\nit, else contact me offline. \r\n\r\n Thanks. \r\n\r\n Edit: undo freudian. XP Home Edition
The filesystem listings posted are for an absolutely pristine XP Home installation with one exception - the NetBEUI protocol has been installed.

I wish I would have seen your request
earlier. Just purchased a new computer (compaq) for my wife yesterday. Spend the afternoon removing xcess xp. Had I you posted earlier (and if I had read the post), I could have attempted to get a listing for you.
Was hoping that she wouldn't like XP and I'd switch, but "it's ok. goody nuff"

BTW I have a tripple chin, but I am downgrading it to a double chin as soon as I lose some more weight.
I guess you meant "package" as in the whole body, and not just one important part of it. :)
