"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music." -- Kristian Wilson, Nintendo, Inc, 1989
New Oooh, is that a DVI jack? :P

Many fears are born of stupidity and ignorance -
Which you should be feeding with rumour and generalisation.
BOfH, 2002 "Episode" 10
New Would you like a wafer-thin dinner mint?
New Don.t Laugh
Early 486-era video capture boards (Intel ActionMedia) were full-length and jammed with ICs - mostly buffer memory. The full monty had a large daughter card as well for a coprocessor and a SCSI interface - all this on a 16bit ISA card! It weighed almost a pound fully loaded. YOu got 320x240 video at a modest frame rate. It was very very expensive.

New I remember cards like that.
I have an Ensoniq SoundScape Elite in one of my PCs. It's a very long card because it is essentially the guts of one of Ensoniq's mid-range synthesizors, complete with 68000 CPU and effects chip!

Wade.

Is it enough to love
Is it enough to breathe
Somebody rip my heart out
And leave me here to bleed

Is it enough to die
Somebody save my life
I'd rather be Anything but Ordinary
Please

-- "Anything but Ordinary" by Avril Lavigne.

New I have the competition
Media Vision Pro Movie Studio

Linux drivers for it!

Think I should plug it back in?
It's been gathering dust for about 5 years.

New Reminds me of the Amiga Video Toaster
I think it was by Newtek, they made a mac Version, but instead of finding a way to make it work with the Mac, they just hooked up an Amiga 2000 with the Video Toaster card in it to the Macintosh via a SCSI port or something. :)
