New Meta Group recommends that large enterprises consider Linux
This sounds like a fairly smart suggestion. You don't need to be a rocket scientist in order to know that an OS with 30% server market share might be something you ought to look into. Kudos to Meta Group and IDC for recently figuring this out.

Making the move to Linux]

With major vendors now devoting significant resources to commercialize Linux as a viable operating system for enterprise use, IT organizations should acquire experience with Linux as a potential long-term alternative to Microsoft Windows and Unix offerings.

Meta Group now recommends that large enterprises consider a limited number of Linux server deployments or pilot projects.
New Only problem here
is that this should have been written about two years ago. At that time, enterprises were already considering pilot roll-outs of Linux (notwithstanding that the IT gang had been sneaking it in the back door for a while even then).

Most of the rest of the article seems to be more along the lines of 'damning with faint praise'. For example, dredging up the Linux Fragmentation myth and suggesting that Linux software prices will eventually stabilize to about 20% below that of Microsoft.

There's also the unsupported assertion that Linux costs more to set up and administer.
New Agreed. It's now safe to endorse Open-Source.
What with IBM, Hollywood and the scientific community (to name a few examples) backing Linux whole-heartedly. Add in 30% server market share for Linux and 60% for Apache and it becomes obvious that OSS is here to stay. But the tech pubs still need to hedge their bets in case they are wrong. At least InfoWorld appears to be using their own survey information in order to determine the subject matter of some of their recent articles, as Andrew has pointed out.
