New M$ to share source with governments...
[link|http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/biztech/01/15/microsoft.code.ap/index.html|CNN Article].
SEATTLE (AP) -- The source code Microsoft Corp. has long guarded as secret intellectual property is now becoming the carrot dangled before governments to keep them from defecting to competitors' software.

Microsoft on Tuesday announced a new program to make the underlying code for its Windows operating system available to several governments and governmental agencies for viewing.
OK, so they're going to let governments see their source code. Whether or not you believe they're going to show all of their source code is up to you to decide. Is anyone taking bets on whether or not MS lets these same governments actually compile that code and run what they compile? Or will M$ say "Here's our source code. No, really, it's all of it. But you must purchase this CD that we built for you if you really want to use our software."

New Exactly what I was wondering
If you can't build a system with it, then it's worthless. It could just be:

DO
Nothing_to_arouse_suspicion (no_sireee_bob,would_we_do_that?)
LOOP

Of course, even if you can build a working Windows system with the MS-supplied source, it's still perilously close the worthless...
John. Busy lad.
