New Programmable keyboard solutions?

Not sure what this would fall under.

\r\n\r\n

I was speaking with a legacy MS Windows User (name duly submitted for\r\nassimilation) yesterday, question arose of whether or not there was a\r\nway to program in keyboard shortcuts in such a way that typing some\r\nshortcut or hotkey would expand, always, into some text. E.g.: "Truth\r\nOr Consequences, NM", as a long city name one might have to provide\r\nfrequently.

\r\n\r\n

The ideal solution would work cross-application. That is, you'd be\r\nable to use the same shortcut in MS Word, Excel, or Mozilla.

\r\n\r\n

Anyone aware of possibilities?

New Buy a gateway, their keyboards were programmable
or a wyse60 but useless in windows. I thought that officemacros could do that, wired to a hot key but it so many years etc.

Windows 3.1 had a macro-recording facility. I'm sure there are shareware programs that allow programming the function keys.

Cross platform is going to be a problem because every OS has a different conception of what a console is.

This looks good for Windows:

New Not cross-platform, just cross-app

This is legacy MS Windows (not sure if it's 98 or XP) only. But it\r\nhas to work across several apps.
