I'd settle for a nice conservative box (maybe black) with a nice little colored Apple on it. Why isn't this a choice? I don't want a snowball with a drinking straw and a picture frame.

New That was the NextCube, so late 1980's
Jobs wants to move away from the past and create something different. Besides there was that G4 Cube a while back, which didn't do so good. Maybe it should have been black instead of translucent? From what I heard, it had flaws in the forms of cosmetic cracks on the cases after a while.
