THE BUSIEST ARMY IN THE WORLD is considering shifting to Linux despite the fact that the US buys its kit for it anyhow.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says the cost of running Windows is too great and is giving "serious consideration" to shifting its data to Linux servers, the Israeli daily Ha'aretz reports.

New Smart move
it will also save them money when the upgrades need to be done. Microsoft licensing can be a costly thing.

I predict that more countries will make the move to Linux for their systems. This is a mile-stone for now. Another pie in the face to Microsoft, the first of many to come.

Ah well, at one time I had the idea of switching one of my machines to 100% Linux, or use WINE to run the Windows stuff, but I put that on hold for now, until I can get better and figure out a way to get my current hardware to run Linux, or buy new hardware that will run it without the problems I have been having.

Quote me on this if you must:

"Linux is a great OS if you have the right hardware that will run with it."
