New S Koreans fear Bush more then North

Many South Koreans fear Bush more then they fear the North Koreans.

South Korea has been becoming increasing disenchanted with the US over the last few years and the perceptions that Bush is the cause of the crisis seems to be cementing that opinion.

Personally, I don't Bush is the source of the crisis. But bungling by the current and previous administrations have made the current situation inevitable. The US agreed to do certain things in exchange for North Korea's giving up it's nuclear program, and we failed to keep our end of the bargin. And then we act shocked and angry when they don't keep theirs.

New Perhaps it's time for the US to abandon the DMZ.
Let the Koreans work it out.

Japan, on the other hand, needs US umbrella.

New Just there?
Given that the whole point was to contain "Communism", do we need to man the DMZ anymore?

Also, given that the technology for building nukes is getting easier to acquire, can we have a foreign policy based upon restricting that knowledge?

Wouldn't a better plan be to work towards mutual economic ties and promote "regime change" in that manner?
