New Internet Explorer Hang Ups
I am running WinXP Home Edition and I am having trouble with my IE. The problem is that when i close the browser window the process keeps running with out the window being open and it just consumes memory without serving a purpose. As i open and close my browser windows (i do this frequently) it just keeps piling up processes untill I sense a problem and manualy halt the processes in the process manager. Is there any way fix this or am i doomed to keep having to give the three-finger salute all day long? Hope someone can help.
Thanks,

Sean

Install [link|http://www.mozilla.org/|Mozilla]. It's a far superior browser. Faster, more control, better features. Not quite [link|http://galeon.sourceforge.net/|Galeon], but on an inferior OS, it'll do. Take a look at [link|http://www.mozilla.org/projects/phoenix/phoenix-release-notes.html|Phoenix] while you're there, it's a faster, ligher Mozilla, pretty nice, and shaping up darned quickly.

Grygus, Whysall, or Folkert may be able to steer you through the MSFT issues.

New Re: Internet Explorer Hang Ups
Pick an Explorer window, any will do.

Go to Tools->Folder Options
Click the View tab
Scroll down until you can see Launch folder windows in a separate process

Is this checked?

Further questions:

Have you installed Windows XP Service Pack 1?

Sun Java?

What software is on the machine?

Do you have current, working antivirus protection?

I don't do very much with XP Home - XP Pro is my bag if I can't get Windows 2000.
