New Fascism creeping along
Luckily, we can still count on some to deliver hard truths. In an October 2001 article entitled "Liberties Lost: Unintended Consequences of the Anti-Terror Law," for example, former White House counsel John Dean lamented that the "right to dissent" was in jeopardy. Charging that the USA PATRIOT Act twisted the definition of domestic terrorism to include "home-grown political activists," his concern was well-founded -- especially now that no-fly lists target peacenik clergymen and any act "that appears to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population," is considered terrorism. But though the Patriot Act's sunset clause assured temporary expanded powers, if our loss of liberty is unintended, why does Homeland Secretary legislation permanently authorize 'data-mining' ala John Poindexter's Total Information Awareness snoop shop? Is it unintentional? Or is it something else? Consider, if you will, the history of America's creeping fascism, from 1950 on:

Why should we ask our military to die for cheap oil when the rest of us aren't even being asked to get better mileage?

New it wont be facist for long
because the resultant backlash quickly turn from facism to communism as detailed here [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=64911|http://z.iwethey.org...w?contentid=64911] this has been planned and documented for a while from the elder Bush one world to present.

New Re: Fascism creeping along
The average Limbaugh-swilling Joe really thinks he's being a good American by supporting all this, whether tacitly or explicity. Of course, the truth is this cretin is probably too stupid to know what to do with freedom or even conceptualize what it means, much less recognize its loss.

It's a terrible time - one can only hope for Fate to step in and sweep these people away.

(BTW the most alarming thing of all is this - a miserable mean-spirited chicken-shit deserter is the CIC.)

New Trust not in fate.
Freedom isn't free.

If we rely upon others to stop this progression, then we deserve whatever we get.

The really GREAT news is that we don't have to DIE this time.

We can STILL change the system just by getting enough people out to vote.
New Hey.. it's shopping season!
And it has been since.. the Resident suggested that the way that "consumers can do their part to help" - is to buy more stuff. Such an onerous task for the Home Front.. but Muricans will rise to any challenge, we see.

It appears that collectively we have become so fat, lazy and dumb.. no one much is even interested in these matters. And if another object blows up - I see no reason that the effect will not just be: more of the same ennui and perhaps.. a bit more panic buying. (And Tee Vee sitcom watching, for relaxation from the stress at the checkout counter.)

We'll get what we value - being taken care of and.. with no fuss about the means.
As the Constitutional Convention came to a close, a woman asked Benjamin Franklin what type of government had been formed. "A Republic, if you can keep it," he replied.
