New Shifting balance of power
[link|http://news.independent.co.uk/world/politics/story.jsp?story=358588|Independent UK]

India may buy a surplus Russian carrier and nuclear armable submarine. India wants both but the price tag is high, a couple of billion now for both plus billions in vehicales and support over the next few decades. Russia of course is mostly in it for the money, as arms export is probably the single most profitable buisness they have right now.

This would be a major shift in power in the region, one that Pakistan would probably respond to by building more missiles. It would also have major impact on China, as India and China are in a bit of a conventional arms race.

New You can't hug your kids with nuclear arms.
But, apparently, they make nice fishing platforms.

Any thoughts on China's response to this will be? I'm guessing there's going to be some quick dealing with Pakistan.
