New Any CF reader capable of taking CF2 should work
I'd recommend checking two options in particular:
-- see if you can find a CF2 to PCMCIA adapter. I have one, but I think it's only for CF1 (it was $12).
-- see if you can get a CF2 to Firewire (1394) adapter -- this should be fast and 1394 cards are affordable. I'm not sure about support for non-Win OS's, however.

You'd definitely want a high transfer speed with a 1G drive.

Basically, a Compact Flash card mimics an ATA hard drive (includes an on-board controller that in the case of flash, makes the flash look like a hard drive).

Who thinks CF is the way to go for compact storage, since it's all over the place -- cameras, PDA's, robots, laptops (via adapters), and more!
