possible rewrite using wininet.dll
A bit lower-level than inet, but it has a nice little flag that should get the job done: INTERNET_FLAG_IGNORE_CERT_DATE_INVALID

Does Double-D still get poured?
I thought it not too horrible.
But then...I was a beer rookie at that time...several hundred labels later I had become a staunch fan of the Belgians.

Um...all lagers (including Brits) are fizzy pop.
Which is why I don't drink them unless very hot and thirsty.

surprise! customer came through
and updated the certificate. I'm going to still pursue the rewrite, but it's no longer a high priority.
The reason boxley stated was one of the reasons I posted what I'd found. The other reason was hopes of "yes, that will work but be aware of x" or "no, that won't work because of y" feedback.
