Definition of irony
Heard on a radio interview. They were talking about the fact that the U.S. military just discharged nine linguists, including 6 Arabic speakers, for being gay. According to someone supporting the decision: In the middle of fighting a war against religious extremism is not the time to do something offensive to God.

OMFG
Classic. Truly awe inspiring ignorance.
Why should we ask our military to die for cheap oil when the rest of us aren't even being asked to get better mileage? -[link|http://www.workingforchange.com/article.cfm?itemid=14107|Molly Ivins]

Reminds me of a quote I read in the paper today...
Though not completely pertinent to the discussion, and I'm probably in the wrong forum, but anyway...
From the Letters page of the today's (December 3) Sydney Morning Herald...
"Have the agnostics or atheists ever declared war on anyone? Nuff said."
(Not much point providing a link as it appears the letters page is current only on the day the paper is published)

Oh I dunno.
Wasn't the USSR Communist party supposed to be Athiestic? Didn't they war on other peoples? I don't have the details to hand...

Could be, and if so

Irony can be so ironic (or so Ashton told me once...)

Shit, that was fast.
I figured Dub, Dickie, Asscroft, Rove, et. al. would turn us into a theocracy. I just didn't think it would happen this quickly.
