New More fun with Win2K
Okay, it's me this time.

Anyway, we're planning to set up a pair of DNS servers on our campus so we can manage our own subdomain. Due to reasons beyond my control, one of them is going to be a Win2K box. I'd like the other one to be our Sun E250, however, and I'd like the Sun to be the primary.

However, I was told today that if you're running ADS (and we will be <shudder>), Win2K doesn't like to be the second banana with DNS. Apparently it messes up network browsing for the Windows clients or something.

I think I remember reading about this and thought it would work by using the latest rev. of BIND on the Sun box.

Okay, anyone got something on this one?

(Sorry to keep bugging you folks about this, but where MS products are concerned, it's very tough to separate the truth from the BS. This board is the most trusted source I can think of.)

New W2K DNS
You can successfully use a non-Windows 2000 DNS server.

It must support dynamic updates, SRV records, and incremental zone transfers. The latest version of BIND supports all these.
