So, what does that make him, well, to me, he usually has analysed a situation pretty well and I would never call him a news milk-sop -- a news milk-sop is someone who repeats verbatim sopped up news items & is generally incapable (for what ever reasons) of make sound value judgements on complex matters (such as International politics).
