WOULD (cheerfully) - Have contemplated that many times - but reality in our business is that MS lies win over reality & we have to support that env.
As someone who was the lead writer on IBM's first Linux redbook (to the absolute best of my knowledge :-) back in 1999 (when IWE was still at Infoworld). I know how far Linux has come.
We covered Redhat 6.2, Caldera 2.2, TurboLinux and SuSe (forget which one)
But I've had no problems writing MS software or using any (including iFix - an HMI package w/a serial dongle key) under VMWare > 3.0 (The dongles wouldn't work w/2.x though).
