Georgia Tech's former football coach George O'Leary had been tapped for the Notre Dame job, when it came out that he had exaggerated his playing experience and academic achievements. Now, as a coach, he had a sterling record over 20-odd years, including 8 at Tech (try getting a competitive football team that must pass calculus!) but had to resign in disgrace after the truth came out.

I was heartbroken for the man. He's now an assistant coach with the Minnesota Vikings. I hope he makes it back to the top.

The entire system of hiring by resume is seriously fu'ed.
